Apple and the iPhone 12 led sales in January 2021, according to the latest estimates from analyst firm Counterpoint Research. According to their figures, the TOP 10 of the best-selling smartphones during the first month of the year consists of at least six iPhones, the iPhone 12 being of course at the top of the ranking.
As you may know, the health crisis does not seem to affect Apple’s results, quite the contrary. According to recent studies, Apple could sell 240 million smartphones in 2021 and in the process explode its record obtained in 2015 (231 million devices sold).
However, a study published by the analysis firm CounterPoint Research does confirm this trend. According to their data, six out of the ten best-selling smartphones in the world in January 2021 are iPhones . You will understand, only four Android smartphones have managed to find a place at the top of the basket. It should also be noted that these are not high-end devices.
Not surprisingly, the first place is attributed to the iPhone 12 , with 6% market share. Unsurprisingly, we find on the other steps of the podium the premium versions of the latest flagship of the Apple brand, namely the iPhone 12 Pro Max (5% of PDM) and the iPhone 12 Pro (4% of PDM) .
APPLE IS A HIT AT THE START OF 2021
The iPhone 11 , the previous flagship of the Cupertino company, is placed in fourth position, with a total of 2% of market share. Despite the launch of its successor, the iPhone 11 therefore continues to hit the mark, which was already the best-selling smartphone in the world during the first half of 2020 .
We find in fifth and sixth places the first Android smartphones of this top, namely the Xiaomi Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A . The two devices sold under the € 150 mark were able to seduce consumers at the start of 2021. We then find at the end of the ranking the following smartphones:
- Samsung galaxy a21s
- iPhone 12 mini
- Samsung galaxy a31
- iPhone SE 2020
As analysts at CounterPoint Research report, the three most expensive models of the iPhone 12 account for 71% of total iPhone sales in January 2021 . In addition, the US market alone is home to a third of iPhone 12 sales worldwide. It remains to be seen what the results will be for the months of February and March 2021.
