In a Mobile Tech Podcast interview, the famous Android Police leaker Max Weinbach unveiled new information concerning the future Pixel 6 range from Google, but also on the Pixel 5a, whose announcement is imminent.
A few days ago, we discovered the new design of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro . This year, it seems that Google has thoroughly reviewed its flagships, since it will not only revamp them, but also significantly improve their technical sheet compared to previous years.
Indeed, we know for example that the Pixel 6 range will be equipped with better photo sensors, and that the Pro version will be equipped with a periscope . The latter should offer a 5X optical zoom, if the latest leaks are to be believed. Max Weinbach revealed more information about their characteristics in an interview with the Mobile Tech Podcast.
THE PIXEL 6 AND 6 PRO WILL BE HIGH-END SMARTPHONES
According to Max Weinbach, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will both be equipped with a house processor from Google, named “Whitechapel” internally. It would have the performance of a Snapdragon 870 , which can for example be found on a POCO F3 . The chip would also have an integrated NPU (dedicated AI chip) and an ISP (dedicated photo processing chip), also made to measure. We should therefore expect significant improvements in these areas.
Finally, we learn that the Pixel 6 will offer a 120 Hz FHD + OLED display with a 4,500 mAh battery , while the Pro version will be equipped with a 120 Hz QHD + OLED display with a 5,000 mAh battery . At this time, we don’t know if the phones will be exactly the same size, although it is believed that the Pro version will be either bigger or thicker. The two smartphones could be unveiled on September 30 .
Finally, Max Weinbach confirms that you shouldn’t expect big changes on the Pixel 5a compared to last year’s Pixel 4a . Unfortunately for French fans of the American giant, the smartphone should not be marketed here . We will therefore have to wait until the arrival of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro at the end of the year.
