The annual Consumer Electronics Show took over Las Vegas for the week of Jan. 6-9 and transfixing consumers with driverless cars, flying camera drones, more fashionable wearables and even a $1,200 Sony Walkman. Smartphones were, of course, also center stage. Though many were introduced, here a few of the most impressive new models you can expect to see on the market in the coming months.
Phone: Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5
Features: Though some were disappointed that no Galaxy S6 was revealed, Samsung did throw a bone to tech reporters and consumers with these two new models. Less expensive than some of Samsung’s other Galaxy models, these are designed for selfie-snapping youngsters and have as yet only been announced for the Indian market.
Phone: G Flex 2
Features: The second generation of LG’s curved smartphone, this phone has also improved upon its predecessor by using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which has faster speeds and better battery life than the Snapdragon 805.
Features: The P90 will join the new generation of “phablets” currently on the market. The 5.5-inch smartphone is the first to use Intel’s new Z3560 processor, paired with an Intel 4G LTE modem. As for aesthetics? Though reviewers have said it feels a bit plasticky, it does come in three cool colors — pearl white, onyx black and lava red.
Features: The new “super smartphone,” which Saygus said is for the media junkies of the world boasts 320GB of storage, though only 64GB are internal. It also has back-facing and front-facing cameras, 21 megapixels and 13 megapixels, respectively, and Harman Kardon speakers.
